So I recently picked up an older Wacom Wireless Graphire Pen Tablet (CTE-630BT) and I have not been able to set it up on Mavericks 10.9.2. I have been able to get the express keys to work, but the pen has not been detected.
I have tried installing many of the given legacy drivers on Wacom's U.S. And European sites including: 5.3.3.-3 5.3.3.-2 5.3.0.-3 6.2.0.-w4 6.3.7.-3 and after many attermpts on each of these, and a couple others possibly, (using the Wacom Utility to remove them, reseting my tablet a few times. I am If there is anyone out there with any insight, I would be quite grateful. Edit: Also, the tablet didn't come with a USB Bluetooth receiver, I was just using the internal one on my rMBP. I have Graphire 4 and was pretty satisfied with it until Maverics. Recenty I wrote to Wacom user support and got this reply: Thank you for your e-mail. I am terribly sorry for we no longer provide any driver version that would allow you to use your Graphire 4 tablet with the latest Mac system version. The technology gap between these two items is unfortunately too large. In case you are interested in upgrading your old tablet in order to enjoy a 20% discount on the purchase of some of our newer tablets, you have the possibility to fill in a form allowing you to get a discount voucher. Here is the direct weblink to reach the page for this 'Old for New' offer: Graphire 4 is 2007 I guess. Wow, that's as if my iPhone 3G (2008) couldn't even connect to my MacBook anymore because of Maverics.
I can't believe that realitevly simple positioning HW is so hard to make new drive for. So disapointed by Wacom. I worked with the pen tablet driver 5.33-3 fine on Maverick with the Graphire4 (CTE630BT).
Since i updated to Yosemite my tablet is working as it did but the prefpane is moved to incompatible software. Now i can't make any new preferences or adjustments to the hotkeys but they function still as how i configured it on Mavericks. Because i can still use my tablet i'm scary to try to install another (older or newer) driver. The newest driver for Yosemite fails to install (Pentablet 535-4). Anyone who has an advice what to do?
I got the my Wacom Graphire ET-0405-U tablet working on my MacBook Air with System 10.10! I installed the driver, then the tablet worked though as everyone has mentioned, I couldn't open control panel to set my preferences. I copied the Wacom preferences file from my iMac running System 10.6 to the corresponding folder on the MacBook Air. After restarting all my preferences were there, such as 'mouse mode' instead of 'tablet mode', right click for normal click (I grew up with Mac mice that have just one button), speed, etc. I hope this helps. Enjoy, David Henry.
Driver 5.3.0-3 runs OK on OSX Yosemite 10.10, but the preference pane doesn't work out of the box, however: - you can still use your old preferences (they are in /Library/Preferences/com.wacom.pentablet.prefs and com.wacom.touch.prefs) - the preference pane can be run by running the 'System preferences' application in 32-bit model. In the finder, go to /Applications, right-click on the System preferences application, get info, and check 'run in 32-buts mode'. Once you set your preferences, close the app and uncheck the 32 bits box.
Well David, I would not blame Wacom for -not- supporting a low-end-product like this one, and afaik: first introduced 2006. This is not a product for professional use and as an incidental user I am quite satisfied with the present solution. Therefore I do congratulate the Apple-community for concocting a solution like this which in fact is an extremely easy one. Sidenote: Although I am satisfied with this solution, not all configuration items of the control panel are available, e.g. The tablet buttons. Still my tablet functions as one would expect, as I like working with my Graphire 4 (CTE-440) together with programs as or To end with: Well, to be clear: it's a workaround, even being a simple one. Have been looking for a solution since my transition to Yosemite.
Starting some week ago I would have been contended to allot this one to E-bay or something a-like for 'next to nothing to old songs'. Now I'm happy again.
😁 Greetings, Erik. Thanks Devernay! Again, my Graphite 4 works even on Yosemite!
I only had to run Preferences in low resolution too. Here are my steps:. Download legacy driver 5.3.0-3 for OS X 10.8, 10.7 & 10.6:.
Bamboo preferences panel doesn't open though. Find preferences app inside main Applications folder.
Cmd+I on the file and check both Open in 32bit and Open in low resolution (for retina). Run system preferences. Now the Bamboo panel is working. Once set, set Preferences app back to 64 bit and high resolution.

Wacom is the undisputed king of tablets - when thinking about tablets, nothing else should even come to mind. That being said, Wacom makes excellent tablets. I own a Graphire3 6x8 tablet and it's really great - tons of pressure sensitivity levels, smooth drawing and writing, and a really awesome wireless, battery-less three-button mouse. I use it all the time and it's great.
As for how well OS X works with it, I'll have to say it couldn't be more excellent. There's even built-in handwriting recognition support (Ink) if you want to use it for writing. Wacom's mouse? New Apple user here (about to convert.waiting for my PB), i have had wacom before long ago, love them.
Curious if anyone can tell me whether the mouse that comes with the new tablets must be used in conjunction with the tablet connected to the computer? Or can the mouse be used on its own like any other bluetooth/wireless mouse? Considering getting the tablet, just don't want to get a bluetooth mouse for on the road if the wacom mouse works by itself?
I don't think i want to take the tablet everywhere i go! I have a Graphire 2 4x5 (thats A6) usb tablet. Its awesome, I only really use it with Photoshop when I've got a long session ahead (it reduces the risk of RSI).
Wacom Graphire Pen
You might want to play around and find the right size for you. I tend to draw small things on the corner of paper, and so the smaller tablet suits me fine. Using the mouse with it is a bit rubbish as its only got a small moving space, so I usually use my trackpad for mousing.
Bluetooth Software For Mac
The first time you are in photoshop and make a mistake, then flip over the pen to erase is one of the best experiences I know of as sad as that is! I just discovered Wacom have already updated their drivers to work with Tiger.
Good work Wacom! Oh and I've always pronounced it Wah-com:EDIT. Wacom is great. I love the new customizable controls they've added to the corners. If I could have that, and 4x5 size, and rechargeable BT, I'd be in heaven.
I recommend the 4x5 size for most people: more than that makes for long, tiring arm motions. I find it easier to draw small, and much easier to use menus small. So I use only a portion of my 6x8! (Look at how far the tip of your mouse moved during normal use-not far at all! Mouse pads have a lot of wasted space in a sense.) 3. 'Way-Comm' sounds good to me.

But I'm pretty sure on the phone they actually say 'Wockum!' Not that it's necessary now, but i'll add in my 2 bits. Wacom tablets are the.! My wrist feel so much better after getting one. I bring mine to work because i hate my mouse now and my bosses are a bit to stingy right now to get me a 6x8 Intous 3. I use dual monitors so the 6x8 is perfect (not too much distortion if you use the whole surface).
Great customizable drivers. The buttons and sliders on the tablet can be changed per app; which is a great option. A 4x5 would be fine for a single monitor setup. Enjoy you tablet! New Apple user here (about to convert.waiting for my PB), i have had wacom before long ago, love them.
